The Evil that is Affable

In the distance a hero dies with a thunderous boom.

   All around him, people flock to the noise and spin stories of the loudness they heard in their sleep and everyone listens.  The children ask those who heard "What was he like?" and "What did he do?" to which storytellers answer;

   "Why, he was greatness, of course, and many were his deeds.  He crafted speech and order, commanded great floods and black rain into the riverbeds we drink from.  He exorcised demons."

   The birds in the woods, rummage through sticks and dirt, carrying them into the wilderness and into the dark, building a secure nest for their young.  Perched on branches of dead wood, they take flight into the open sky.
